Interesting idea.
What stops the wing stalling?
A rope break could be fatal, so it would important to check for wear regularly.

I thank him for bringing this issue to light and to Davis for providing a forum in which we can speak freely, without severe moderation, such as the previous funston fb group which is now gone.

I confess to previously having a bit of an Oz Report habit, but the forced login thing has turned me off permanently, and I am in fact grateful. Frankly, the site had pretty much been reduced to a few dedicated sycophants in any case.

The weak link broke and the glider stalled and pounded in.

Approximately one second after pitch up the weak link broke and the glider stalled, rolling slightly right. Recognizing the stall and early release I instinctively pulled in to regain speed and as the ground came up pushed out to effect a glide. Impact was two seconds later.

This kind of problem often occurs when there has been a distraction or disruption of the normal launch sequence. If things get hectic on launch, people show up and talk to you, or any other kind of distraction, take note, and switch into extremely deliberate launch mode. Check everything twice.

It is also not possible to put together enough tugs in Texas to haul all of the pilots into the air. I've tried.

I will have wheels on my glider for the foreseeable future, including my T2C. If for no other reason than the fact that I do a lot of aerotowing; but I have actually been glad that I had them on a couple of landings.

Wheels would be a great idea if you fly at a flight park and aerotow or truck tow. If you break a weak link immediately after leaving the cart wheels may prevent serious injury.

The good thing is that a weak link break is no big deal other than missing out on that tow. A weak link failing to break is a whole other problem.
