Hang Gliding - Mis-assembled Control Frame Incident - Dog Mtn, WA 3/15/14

Easy, 30-second solution - This video is in response to the control frame mis-assembly incident at Dog Mountain on 2014/03/15.. The improper assembly of the control frame was not immediately apparent to the pilot during preflight.. The control bar was not fully seated into the corner-bracket; then rig pin was fully installed through the installation holes in the bracket.. But since the control bar was not fully seated in the corner-bracket, the rig pin did not pick-up the installation holes in the base tub leaving the control bar essentially unattached..

Without an obvious visual cue to alert the pilot, the mis-assembled control frame gave the appearance of proper assembly.. Immediately after the glider was airborne the mis-assembled control frame failed at the corner-bracket and the pilot miraculously directed the gilder to a decent landing near the regular landing area..
